at 23.12 at Vilma’s place
So… I just came home from a scout camp and now I have to pack. I hope that I have time to
sleep, at least three hours would be nice. Good night :)
First day
First we arrived at school Istituto Tecnico Industriale "Galileo Ferraris" in San Giovanni La Punta (Catania) and then we met other students from Italy, France, Denmark and Germany. Everyone
made their presentations and it was really interesting to hear about different companies and ways
to do business. Italian students showed us places around the school. The school was huge and
labyrinth like. Then we split into smaller groups and had some activities.
Second day
We had a roadtrip to Taormina and Naxos 💓.The views there were wonderful and weather was
incredible. We had a guided tour in the ancient theatre of Taormina, a Greek amphitheatre.
After the tour we explored Taormina and bought souvenirs for our families. Then we went to
Naxos beach and had lunch. After the lunch we returned back to school and went to our host
families.
Third day
We had a bus tour around Etna (the volcano) and we visited a company called ‘Bacco’ which
makes different products of pistachio. We also got to taste their products and they tasted very
delicious. After visiting the company we ate a magnificent lunch which lasted for almost three
hours. Then we went to see an old black church in Randazzo and took some group photos.
After that we went back to school and then home with our host families.
Fourth day
In the morning we Finnish students had a pre-selection test for polytechnics. Then we worked
with the blogs and ate lunch at King restaurant.
In the evening we had a farewell party at school. Host families brought delicious food, for example,
‘arancino’ that are stuffed rice balls coated with bread crumbs and deep fried with a filling of meat,
cheese and peas. There were a variety of pizzas, for example, pizzas with french fries on top,
a Sicilian speciality. There was a great band and students and teachers alike danced the night
away. Before going to our host families, we had to say goodbye to Danish, French and German
students and it was sad because we had already made friends with them. Bittersweet.

Fifth day
In the morning students from Denmark, Germany and France left back home. We Finnish students
got to decide what we wanted to do so we decided to go to the beach. We went to Ognina beach
near our teachers’ hotel. Vilma’s host Andrea came with us and he was our travel guide. We ate
lunch at a restaurant called ‘Golden’. There were many different food choices where you could
choose from. You could eat as much as you wanted but you had to eat everything you took from
the buffet. If you couldn’t eat everything, you had to pay some extra. After lunch we went to the
center of Catania to a park called ‘Giardino Bellini’. It was such a beautiful place. Then we bought
ice cream and went back to school with Italian teacher Mr Paterno Castello. In the evening we went
to the home of Hinni’s host family and ate together. The last evening was really nice and we had a l
ot of fun. There were a lot of different meats and salads prepared by Hinni’s host mother, Rosaria.
For example, veal meat with lemon and horse meat. There were also different sausages. As dessert
we were offered fruit and different pastries, everything was delicious = ‘era tutto buonissimo’.
Sixth day
Our flight took off at 8.50 in the morning. We were at the airport at 6 o'clock. Everyone was really
tired due to last week. As soon as we went in the plane everyone fell asleep. The flight went fast
and when we arrived in Finland we took the train to Tikkurila. In Tikkurila we got us something
to eat and then our journey continued towards Kalajoki by train. It was 20.30 when we finally
arrived at home. We were tired but really happy because the trip was a success. Missing Sicily!
